Vanessa Martinez was a member of the Puerto Rican National Team winning two individual bronze medals (200IM and 400IM) in 2002 at the Central American Games in El Salvador. In the same international event she also earned two gold medals in the 400 and 800 Free Relays. During the summer of 2003, Vanessa participated in the Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic and in 2006 she competed in the Central American Games in Cartagena, Colombia. Vanessa swam for Syracuse University where she earned a B.S. in Information Management and Technology and an M.A. degree in Digital Media Art and Technology specializing in Web Design.
